Job Summary

The Sales Representative is responsible for achieving maximum sales profitability and growth within an assigned territory and/or market segment by effectively selling the company’s chemical products. Personally contacts and secures new business accounts/customers.

Job Description

  • Primary Job Functions
  • 1) Promotes and sells the Company’s chemical products to potential and current customers
  • by generating leads; by visiting customers & potential customers; by giving sales presentations to a range of prospective clients; by negotiating all contracts with prospective and current clients; by meeting or exceeding sales goals; by coordinating sales efforts with marketing initiatives; by visiting internal clients along with suppliers by understanding and promoting company programs; by traveling approx. 30%.
  • 2) Obtaining information on competitors, technological trends and expected changes in legislation/trade regulations affecting business
  • by staying current and up to date on customer market trends, and new product(s); by attending networking events, tradeshows and conferences as required; by keeping abreast of best practices and promotional trends; by analyzing and interpreting records of present and past sales, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenue, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred for Management.
  • 3) Work with Management, Internal Departments and Suppliers to support sales operation of the business unit
  • by maintaining client records; by helping determine pricing schedules for quotes, promotions, and negotiations; by preparing accurate and timely sales information and reports for senior managers, marketing and sales teams as well as keeping expense accounts/reports; by maintaining complete knowledge of and complies with company and department policies, procedures and standards; by preparing other weekly and monthly reports as requested by Management ;by managing the inventory control and conducting the inventory count ; by making sales forecast and profit forecast ; by collecting accounts receivable ; by reporting sales and client status to suppliers on a regular basis; by updating & maintaining CRM.
  • 4) Provides Quality Sales Customer Service
  • by preparing and submitting sales contracts for orders; by expediting, coordinating and resolving customer or supplier inquiries regarding the terms of sales, shipping detail, customs regulations, inventory and status of accounts; by providing information about sales order status and shipping schedules; by following up on all customer calls, visits and inquiries.

Qualifications

  • 1) Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Staff Member is regularly required to sit and talk or listen. The Staff Member is further required to stand, walk, use hands to pick up, handle or feel and reach with arms. Occasionally, the Staff Member will need to kneel or crouch. The Staff Member must be able to read and analyze written information on a computer terminal. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are necessary for this job. The Staff Member may occasionally lift, carry, push, pull move objects of at least 10 pounds.
  • 2) Working Conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy (i.e. working in a business office with computers, printers and telephones). The Staff Member must be able to travel on business or work beyond normal work hours as necessary.
  • 1) Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and/or government regulations in English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Managers, Staff, clients, customers, and the general public in English.
  • 2) Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • 3) Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • 4) Other Required Skills
  • Must be tactful, mature and flexible. Must have the ability to review, assess and understand technical documents, drawings and other documents with no advance exposure and then engage in discussions internally and with customers. Must have the ability to understand legal/ financial documents (contracts, purchase orders, etc.). Must be able to use a computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Power Point.
