Job Summary

Fabric Specialist

Job Description

  • Required to evaluate, identify and select fabrics & Yarn from Mills and Vendors, ensuring that products meet set requirements and specifications (e.g. color fastness, durability etc.) checking products for suitability and testing.
  • Required to have complete knowledge of Yarn and Fabric production processes (manufacturing, dyeing, printing, and finishing processes.), from fibers, to grey fabric production, construction, weight, finishing process and wet processing.
  • Responsible for sourcing, testing, and analysis of fabrics used in our company's products.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality control and resolve any fabric related issues, starting from sourcing, development, sampling, base test, lab-dip/strike-off/handloom, bulk testing, appearance, handle and color approval, garment washing, garment dyeing, etc.
  • Manage and maintain existing fabric suppliers, put forward constructive suggestions to the company, find new suppliers, and constantly improve the level of suppliers
  • Reviewing and analyzing Supplier quality performance in aspects of suppliers and products and 3rd party testing lab of fabrics.
  • Analysis test reports from Fabric Mill, 3rdParty lab to follow up with supplier for performance and take appropriate action for the low performer.
  • Responsible for fabric quality, delivery, price control, assist to solve fabric problems caused by production of garments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and above, preferably in international trade, textile, or fashion related majors
  • More than 5 years of work experience in fashion merchandising industry
  • Good English and computer skills
  • Good communication skills, capable of working with designers and negotiating with suppliers
  • Independent professional with good fashion sense
